Recline Soft-Shell Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t find your below answer, go here.
What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), and how does it work?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a treatment where you breathe pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber.
This increases the amount of oxygen your body gets, helping your cells repair and work better. Oxygen is crucial for your body to heal and stay healthy, and HBOT delivers more of it than normal breathing can.
Most oxygen in your blood is carried by hemoglobin, which is 97% saturated at normal pressure.
But when you’re in a pressurized chamber, oxygen can also be carried in the plasma of your blood (according to Henry’s law). This allows oxygen to reach parts of the body that wouldn't normally get it, promoting healing.
This is especially helpful for people with medical conditions that limit their blood's ability to carry oxygen.
In short, HBOT is like giving your body an oxygen boost to help it heal and work at its best, whether you’re recovering from an injury or looking to improve your overall health.
What is it like to use a soft-shell chamber during HBOT?
In a soft-shell chamber, you’ll need to enter the chamber and position yourself comfortably before the pressure begins to increase.
As the chamber pressurizes, you may feel a gradual buildup of air pressure and a sensation of fullness in your ears, which is completely normal.
The chamber is designed for individual use, so you’ll be alone inside while the pressure increases.
However, a technician will be monitoring you throughout the first session to ensure you’re comfortable and safe.
Additionally, the chamber is equipped with an emergency pressure release system to ensure your safety at all times. If necessary, the pressure can be safely released in case of any discomfort.
What can I do inside the soft-shell hyperbaric chamber?
Inside the soft-shell chamber, you can relax and unwind in whatever way feels best for you.
Feel free to bring along electronic devices like your phone, tablet, or laptop to stay connected or get some work done.
You can also bring a book, meditate, or journal to enjoy a more peaceful experience.
The chamber is designed to help you relax, and you’re welcome to do whatever helps you make the most of your time.
Can I have a hyperbaric oxygen chamber in my own home?
Yes, you can! The beauty of our soft-shell chambers is their flexibility – all you need is a clear space (a spare room is ideal) with a double plug socket and good ventilation (a window will be fine).
We take care of everything else, from the setup to the equipment.
The size is ideal for apartments or smaller spaces, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy without taking up too much room.
You can choose to laydown or sit up right. Please note, we can’t install a chamber in an outdoor space unless it's fully insulated and protected from the weather.
How many hyperbaric chamber sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies based on individual needs and conditions. Typically, customers may require 30-40 sessions, but this can be more or less depending on your specific circumstances.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy works best with regular sessions, similar to a fitness routine, so the greatest benefits are usually seen when treatments are scheduled 4-5 days a week.
To make this more accessible, we offer flexible rental options with both 1-month, 3-month and 6-month rental plans. This allows you to easily commit to a consistent session schedule without the long-term commitment of an in-clinic package.
Renting gives you the freedom to follow through with your session plan at home, ensuring you get the most out of your therapy.
Is Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) Effective?
Yes, even mild hyperbaric pressures offer significant benefits.
Research has shown that lower pressures, as mild as 1.3 ATA, can provide real therapeutic effects, challenging the previous belief that only higher pressures were effective.
Scientific studies, including work by Dr. Paul Harch, have demonstrated that pressures as low as 1.04 ATA can lead to powerful physiological changes, especially in treating conditions like inflammation.
In fact, studies have found that lower pressures can sometimes provide even more pronounced benefits than higher ones.
For example, a 2013 study showed that oxygen at 1.5 ATA affected inflammatory genes more strongly than at 2.4 ATA, suggesting that mild pressure protocols may be ideal for certain conditions.
In short, mHBOT is not only effective, but often offers benefits comparable to higher pressures, without the need for extreme conditions.
